Use Cases

Every situation covered

Designed for the real moments that matter — not just quiet controlled environments.

👔In-person interviews

Slovak corporate interviews in Bratislava typically use standard Slovak. Captio AI captions the interviewer's speech in real time so you can focus on answering rather than straining to catch each word.

💻Video interviews

Video interviews over Teams or Zoom are standard at Slovak companies and multinationals with Bratislava offices. Captio AI captions the call in real time over any compressed audio.

📞Phone screens and initial calls

Initial phone screens at Slovak firms are conducted in standard Slovak. Captio AI captions the recruiter's speech live without a video feed.

👥Panel interviews

Panel interviews may include speakers from different Slovak regions — a Košice interviewer uses eastern speech patterns that differ noticeably from Bratislava standard. Captio AI handles both in the same room.

🌍International and foreign-language interviews

Multinational companies in Slovakia conduct some rounds in English before returning to Slovak. Captio AI covers both languages in the same interview without any mode change.

🎯Assessment centres

Group assessment exercises at Slovak employers involve collaborative discussion. Captio AI helps you follow every speaker and every question across the group.

Why Captio AI

Built for the room where a missed word has real consequences

Read the full question before you answer

Every word appears on screen as the interviewer speaks. You read the question completely before responding — nothing guessed, nothing reconstructed.

Works in person and on any call format

In-person interviews, video calls, phone screens. Place the phone on the table or point it toward the audio — Captio AI handles every format.

Discreet by design

The app runs quietly on your phone. Place it on the table or hold it naturally. No explanation needed, no drawing attention to the accommodation.

No asking for repeats

Asking an interviewer to repeat a question signals uncertainty. Captio AI means you never need to — you read it in real time and answer with confidence.

Any language

For international roles, multilingual panels, or interviews conducted in a second language. Live Translator captions and translates in real time so language is never the barrier.

Private by default

Interview conversations are sensitive. Captio AI processes audio in real time and discards it immediately — nothing is stored, nothing is shared.

Slovak

Why Slovak is hard to understand

Phonemic vowel length

  • Duration changes meaning, shape does not
  • Slovak contrasts short and long vowels — the same vowel quality held twice as long signals a different word. These minimal pairs are visually identical on the lips and can only be resolved from the audio signal, making them systematically inaccessible to a deaf reader.

Eastern dialect stress shift

  • Word rhythm that is completely different
  • Standard Slovak places stress on the first syllable. Eastern Slovak dialects shift stress to the penultimate syllable, making familiar words unrecognisable in rhythm. Eastern speech is difficult even for standard Slovak speakers to follow — for a deaf reader the entire word pattern changes.

Czech–Slovak vocabulary mixing

  • Two similar languages, one interview
  • Slovakia's long shared history with Czech means educated Slovak speakers frequently mix Czech vocabulary into professional speech. A deaf reader calibrated on Slovak encounters Czech-origin words with no visible distinction, disrupting pattern matching.

Palatal consonants

  • Distinctions produced at the palate
  • Slovak has a full set of palatal consonants (ď, ť, ľ, ň) marked in writing with háček or apostrophe. These are produced in the middle of the palate with minimal lip movement, making them visually identical to their non-palatal counterparts.

Dense initial clusters

  • Consonant stacks that compress
  • Slovak words can open with dense consonant clusters — štvrtok ('Thursday') begins with four consonants. In fast interview speech these clusters compress into rapid contact sequences that produce few distinguishable visual shapes.

The Challenge

Hearing loss and employment in Slovakia

Eurostat data found that in Slovakia, the employment gap between people with disabilities who have multiple health conditions and the general workforce was among the largest in Europe — approximately 40 percentage points in 2019, though the gap had narrowed compared to earlier in the decade. For deaf and hard of hearing Slovaks, this gap reflects both communication barriers in recruitment and limited workplace accommodation in a market that has historically underresourced disability support.

Slovakia's disability policy framework has developed through EU accession and subsequent alignment with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Slovak Sign Language received formal recognition in 2010, an important milestone — but recognition has not automatically translated into consistent captioning provision in job interviews or recruitment processes. Employer obligations around communication accommodation remain inconsistently applied across sectors.

The WHO World Report on Hearing (2021) estimated that globally, unaddressed hearing loss carries an annual economic cost of over USD 980 billion, with working-age adults bearing a disproportionate share. In Slovakia, where tech and services sectors in Bratislava and Košice are growing, deaf candidates rarely have access to real-time captioning during recruitment. Captio AI gives deaf and hard of hearing Slovaks a way to follow every interview question word for word — without an interpreter and without advance disclosure.
