Use Cases

Every situation covered

Designed for the real moments that matter — not just quiet controlled environments.

👨‍👩‍👧Calls with family and friends

A call from Mamá in another city, tíos in Mexico, cousins from Buenos Aires. Spanish family calls cross accents and countries — each person talking at full speed in their regional variety.

💼Work calls and conference calls

Client calls, supplier negotiations, team stand-ups in a Madrid or Mexico City office. Spanish-medium business runs heavily on voice calls, with decisions made fast at professional speed.

🏥Medical and healthcare calls

Clinic callbacks, Seguridad Social lines (Spain), IMSS or ISSSTE health helplines (Mexico), hospital appointment confirmation. Medical calls in Spanish are high-stakes — missing a prescription instruction has direct consequences.

🏦Banks, utilities, and customer service

Endesa or Iberdrola automated menus (Spain), Bancomer phone banking (Mexico), Movistar customer service. Spanish-language IVR systems speak at full speed and wait seconds for input.

🌍International calls

A call from family in Colombia or Argentina if you're in Spain — or vice versa. The accent gap between Castilian and Latin American varieties on a phone call can feel like crossing a language boundary.

📹Video calls — FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom

WhatsApp calls with family across the Americas, Zoom meetings with colleagues in different countries. Even with video on, following fast conversational Spanish across accent boundaries is exhausting. Captions remove that effort.

Why Captio AI

Built for the calls you have been avoiding

Captions as they speak

Words appear on screen word by word while the other person is still talking. You read what they say at the same pace everyone else hears it — no delay, no reconstruction.

Works on any call app

Captio AI does not need to integrate with any platform. Put the call on speaker, point the microphone toward the audio, and read the captions. It works the same way for any app on any device.

No more asking for repeats

Every word is on screen as it is said. If you missed something, glance at the caption rather than interrupting the call — the full sentence is there.

Handles call audio accurately

Compressed phone audio is less clean than in-person speech. Captio AI is built for real-world audio conditions, including the reduced quality of standard phone and VoIP calls.

Any language

For calls with family abroad, international colleagues, or foreign-language customer service. Live Translator captions and translates in real time with no manual setup.

Record and review after

Record any call and upload it to Audio Transcription. Get a full written record of everything said — useful for medical instructions, work decisions, and anything worth having in writing.

Spanish

Why Spanish is hard to understand

Caribbean speech rate

  • Caribbean Spanish is among the fastest spoken anywhere
  • Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Dominican Spanish delete word-final consonants, merge vowels, and increase speaking rate dramatically in casual speech. On a phone call from a Caribbean family member, the signal density is extreme — and there is no lip movement to confirm what was heard.

Seseo and ceceo

  • The s/θ contrast plays out differently across twenty countries
  • In Latin America and most of Spain, /s/ and /θ/ merge (seseo). In parts of Andalusia, ceceo reverses the dominant sound. On a phone call across varieties, these contrasts collapse into identical-sounding words — doubling the ambiguity for a hard of hearing listener.

Final consonant deletion

  • Informal Spanish drops final consonants at pace
  • Informal Spanish in Andalusia, the Caribbean, coastal Colombia, and Chile regularly drops final /s/, /d/, and /r/: 'casados' sounds like 'casao', 'hablar' like 'hablá'. On compressed phone audio, these deletions mean morphological markers — plural markers, verb endings — vanish.

Rioplatense intonation

  • Argentine Spanish has Italian-influenced rhythm
  • Argentine and Uruguayan Spanish carries an Italian-influenced intonation pattern that differs markedly from Castilian prosody. Phrasal boundaries fall in unexpected places. For a deaf caller calibrated to Castilian or Mexican Spanish, this prosodic mismatch is disorienting on a call.

Rapid connected speech

  • Natural Spanish is among the world's fastest speech rates
  • Spanish syllable rate is one of the highest globally. Family calls in Spanish move at speed with overlapping turns and ellipsis. Phone compression on top of fast natural Spanish produces a very dense audio signal with few pauses to allow reconstruction of missed words.

The Challenge

Hearing loss in the Spanish-speaking world — a continent-wide gap

The Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 identifies hearing loss as the leading cause of disability globally by years lived with disability. In the Americas, 80% of deaf people live in low- and middle-income countries — the majority of which are Spanish-speaking. Hearing aid penetration across Latin America covers less than 10% of need, meaning tens of millions of people with disabling hearing loss navigate daily phone-based services unaided.

Across the 20+ Spanish-speaking countries, fewer than a third have a functioning national telephone relay service for deaf callers. Most people with hearing loss rely on family intermediaries to make administrative, medical, and banking calls — a dependency that restricts independence at every interaction that cannot be completed in person. Spain's FIAPAS (national federation representing families of the deaf) consistently identifies telephone communication as the leading reported daily barrier for deaf and hard of hearing adults.

Captio AI is built for those calls. Put a clinic callback, a bank IVR, or a WhatsApp call from a cousin in Argentina on speaker and read the captions in real time — whatever the accent, whatever the speed.

Privacy

What you hear stays with you.

Gone the moment it ends

Captio AI processes your audio in real time and discards it immediately. Nothing is recorded. Nothing is kept.

Not a product

Your conversations are not something Captio AI sells, shares, or monetizes — to anyone, for any reason.

Not used to train anything

What you say in a doctor's appointment or a job interview never ends up in a training dataset. Not ours. Not anyone else's.
