Designed for the real moments that matter — not just quiet controlled environments.
A call home to family in Bratislava, Košice, or Banská Bystrica — following along as relatives speak in their regional variety of Slovak.
A work call with Slovak colleagues or clients — professional Slovak with sector vocabulary and the regional accent of wherever the caller is based.
A callback from a health centre in Slovakia or a pharmacist — healthcare calls where catching every detail about medication or a specialist referral matters.
A call from a Slovak bank, utility company, or a government helpline — automated Slovak menus followed by an agent speaking at full speed.
A call from Slovak diaspora in Germany, Austria, or the Czech Republic, mixing Slovak with German or Czech mid-conversation.
A WhatsApp or Teams video call with Slovak family or colleagues — the standard platform for remote connection among Slovaks at home and abroad.

Captions as they speak
Words appear on screen word by word while the other person is still talking. You read what they say at the same pace everyone else hears it — no delay, no reconstruction.
Works on any call app
Captio AI does not need to integrate with any platform. Put the call on speaker, point the microphone toward the audio, and read the captions. It works the same way for any app on any device.
No more asking for repeats
Every word is on screen as it is said. If you missed something, glance at the caption rather than interrupting the call — the full sentence is there.
Handles call audio accurately
Compressed phone audio is less clean than in-person speech. Captio AI is built for real-world audio conditions, including the reduced quality of standard phone and VoIP calls.
Any language
For calls with family abroad, international colleagues, or foreign-language customer service. Live Translator captions and translates in real time with no manual setup.
Record and review after
Record any call and upload it to Audio Transcription. Get a full written record of everything said — useful for medical instructions, work decisions, and anything worth having in writing.
Why Slovak is hard to understand
Three dialect regions
- Eastern, Central, and Western Slovak read differently on the lips
- Slovak has three main dialect regions — Eastern (around Košice), Central (Banská Bystrica), and Western (Bratislava area) — that differ enough in vowel quality and prosody that a phone call from Košice sounds distinct from one from the capital. A lip-reader calibrated to one region is disadvantaged on calls from another.
Rhythmic law
- Vowel length alternates unpredictably in suffix chains
- Slovak has a rhythmic law prohibiting two consecutive long syllables — a long vowel in the stem triggers shortening in the suffix. In fast speech this creates vowel length alternations that don't match what a lip-reader might expect, making it harder to segment word boundaries.
Palatal lateral ľ
- The palatal /ʎ/ is made with a raised tongue, not the lips
- Slovak has a palatal lateral 'ľ' produced by raising the tongue toward the hard palate. The lip shape is identical to a regular 'l'. A lip-reader watching a Slovak speaker say 'ľudia' (people) and 'lúka' (meadow) sees the same initial lip movement.
Consonant cluster density
- Complex onsets produce minimal lip differentiation
- Slovak tolerates complex consonant clusters — 'štvrtok' (Thursday) begins with /ʃtvr/, a four-consonant onset. These runs of consonants share similar lip shapes and move quickly through multiple articulatory positions with very little visible differentiation.
Oralist education legacy
- Many deaf Slovaks rely on lip-reading for phone calls
- Oralist education prevailed in Slovak deaf schools for decades — many deaf Slovaks were trained primarily in lip-reading and speech rather than in Slovak Sign Language. This makes access to phone calls central to daily independence, and the linguistic challenges above directly shape what is and isn't accessible.

Slovakia's population of 5.5 million includes an estimated 800,000 to 900,000 people with some degree of hearing loss, applying the Global Burden of Disease 2019 European prevalence rates. Slovak Sign Language was codified and legally recognised — first in 1995 and strengthened in 2010. Yet as reported in The Slovak Spectator, Slovak Sign Language has not helped every deaf person in Slovakia: decades of oralist education in deaf schools produced a community split between signing users and non-signing oral users, many of whom have no access to interpreter services and rely entirely on lip-reading and hearing aids for daily phone communication.
This split has real consequences. Deaf and hard of hearing Slovaks who rely on oral communication face particular barriers on phone calls — from bank verifications and utility services to healthcare callbacks — because these services are provided at full speech speed with no captioning provision. The absence of real-time captioning infrastructure in Slovak public services means that each phone call requires either a hearing intermediary or the risk of missing critical information.
Captio AI captions every Slovak phone call in real time — from a family call from Košice to a bank callback in Bratislava Slovak — so deaf and hard of hearing users can follow conversations independently.

Gone the moment it ends
Captio AI processes your audio in real time and discards it immediately. Nothing is recorded. Nothing is kept.
Not a product
Your conversations are not something Captio AI sells, shares, or monetizes — to anyone, for any reason.
Not used to train anything
What you say in a doctor's appointment or a job interview never ends up in a training dataset. Not ours. Not anyone else's.
