Use Cases

Every situation covered

Designed for the real moments that matter — not just quiet controlled environments.

👨‍👩‍👧Calls with family and friends

A call from Maa from another state, relatives from UP or Rajasthan, family from the village. Hindi family calls cross dialect regions, each person talking at their natural speed in their own regional variety.

💼Work calls and conference calls

Client calls, supplier negotiations, team check-ins. Hindi-medium businesses run daily operations by voice call — quick decisions, logistics updates, and customer calls all happen over the phone.

🏥Medical and healthcare calls

Doctor callbacks, Apollo health helpline, pharmacy queries, AIIMS appointment confirmation. India's healthcare system relies on phone for results and instructions — missing a medication name or dosage has direct consequences.

🏦Banks, utilities, and customer service

SBI or HDFC IVR menus, electricity board helplines, gas agency booking lines. Hindi-language automated systems speak at standard rate and expect quick responses, with no text fallback.

🌍International calls

A WhatsApp call from a family member in the Gulf, a cousin in the UK, a relative in Canada. Diaspora Hindi carries English words and a different pace — accent shift on top of international call compression.

📹Video calls — FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom

WhatsApp Video with family across India, Google Meet for work. Even with video on, lip reading Hindi at speed across regional accent varieties is cognitively draining. Captions remove that effort.

Why Captio AI

Built for the calls you have been avoiding

Captions as they speak

Words appear on screen word by word while the other person is still talking. You read what they say at the same pace everyone else hears it — no delay, no reconstruction.

Works on any call app

Captio AI does not need to integrate with any platform. Put the call on speaker, point the microphone toward the audio, and read the captions. It works the same way for any app on any device.

No more asking for repeats

Every word is on screen as it is said. If you missed something, glance at the caption rather than interrupting the call — the full sentence is there.

Handles call audio accurately

Compressed phone audio is less clean than in-person speech. Captio AI is built for real-world audio conditions, including the reduced quality of standard phone and VoIP calls.

Any language

For calls with family abroad, international colleagues, or foreign-language customer service. Live Translator captions and translates in real time with no manual setup.

Record and review after

Record any call and upload it to Audio Transcription. Get a full written record of everything said — useful for medical instructions, work decisions, and anything worth having in writing.

Hindi

Why Hindi is hard to understand

Aspiration contrast

  • Hindi's aspirated consonants vanish on a compressed call
  • Hindi has four series of stop consonants — voiced/unvoiced each in aspirated and unaspirated forms (ब/भ, प/फ, द/ध, त/थ). Aspiration is entirely acoustic: invisible on lips and partially masked by phone compression. Minimal pairs like /pal/ vs /phal/ collapse on a poor line.

Schwa deletion

  • Hindi drops the schwa in unpredictable places by region
  • Hindi regularly deletes word-internal and word-final schwas: 'kamala' is spoken as 'kamlā'. The deletion pattern differs by region — UP Hindi, Punjabi Hindi, and Rajasthani Hindi each have different rules. On a phone call, these deletions shorten words unpredictably, making familiar words hard to identify.

Retroflex series

  • Retroflex consonants are invisible and fade in compression
  • Hindi's retroflex sounds (ट, ठ, ड, ढ, ण) involve the tongue tip curling backward — completely invisible on the lips. On a phone call, the acoustic difference between retroflex and dental counterparts is subtle and easily lost in compression, producing near-identical signals for different words.

Regional accent speed

  • Each dialect region runs at a different speed and rhythm
  • Bhojpuri-accented Hindi, Punjabi-accented Hindi, Rajasthani Hindi, and Mumbai Hindi each have different phoneme realisations and speaking rates. A family call from Lucknow sounds different from one from Mumbai — and there is no visual context on a phone call to anchor the unfamiliar variety.

Code-switching

  • Urban Hindi mixes English words mid-sentence
  • Urban Hindi freely switches to English for work vocabulary, medical terms, and brand names: 'meeting rakhein', 'call aayegi', 'appointment confirm karo'. The shift between Hindi and English phonology mid-sentence creates unexpected sound patterns on an already compressed call.

The Challenge

63 million Indians with significant hearing loss

A study published in the National Medical Journal of India (2022) estimated 63 million people — 6.3% of the Indian population — suffer from significant auditory loss. Nationwide disability surveys consistently identify hearing loss as the second most common cause of disability in India. Community-based studies across different states report prevalence of disabling hearing loss ranging from 4.5% to 18.3%, with rural populations and adults over 60 carrying the highest burden.

India has no national telephone relay service for deaf callers — no government-operated TTY equivalent, no captioned telephone service at scale. India's telemedicine boom since 2020 runs primarily on voice calls. For a deaf or hard of hearing patient who cannot follow a rushed Hindi phone consultation, this creates a healthcare access gap with direct consequences: missed diagnoses, wrong dosages, and failed appointment confirmations. Hearing aid penetration in India covers less than 5% of need.

Captio AI is built for those calls. Put a doctor's callback, a bank verification, or a WhatsApp call from family in another state on speaker, and read every word in real time — whether the caller is from UP, Punjab, or Maharashtra.

Privacy

What you hear stays with you.

Gone the moment it ends

Captio AI processes your audio in real time and discards it immediately. Nothing is recorded. Nothing is kept.

Not a product

Your conversations are not something Captio AI sells, shares, or monetizes — to anyone, for any reason.

Not used to train anything

What you say in a doctor's appointment or a job interview never ends up in a training dataset. Not ours. Not anyone else's.
