Designed for the real moments that matter — not just quiet controlled environments.
From a far seat in a keynote hall at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, the speaker is distant and the hall is loud. Point Captio AI toward the nearest PA speaker and read every word of the Slovenian keynote from any seat.
At an academic conference — a research congress at the University of Ljubljana or a scientific meeting in Maribor — presenters speak fast and mix in terminology. Captio AI captions in real time and transcribes for later review.
Industry events, technology summits, and product launches in Ljubljana carry content that affects your work. Captio AI captions every speaker so you follow the panel and miss nothing.
In a workshop or breakout, several voices contribute in Slovenian from around the table. Place Captio AI on the table and follow every contribution, including from the back of the room.
The most useful conversations often happen over coffee breaks and at the conference dinner. Captio AI works in these noisy, informal settings the same way it does in the main hall.
At an international conference in Slovenia, sessions switch between Slovenian and English. Live Translator captions foreign-language talks in real time so you follow the full programme.

Live captions from any seat
Point the phone toward the nearest PA output or speaker. Captio AI captions whoever is presenting in real time — from the front row or the back of a large conference hall.
Works without venue infrastructure
No hearing loop, no captioning service, no advance booking required. Captio AI works independently via microphone — whether or not the venue has provided any accessibility infrastructure.
Covers what official captioning does not
Official captioning, where it exists, typically covers the main stage only. Q&A sessions, workshops, breakouts, and networking are usually left uncaptioned. Captio AI covers all of it.
Record and review after
Record any session and upload it to Audio Transcription for a full written record. Use AI Summary to extract key takeaways — useful for dense technical content you want to process at your own pace.
60+ languages
For international conferences, foreign-language keynotes, or multilingual panels. Live Translator captions and translates in real time across 60+ languages with no manual switching between speakers.
Works for networking too
The conversations in hallways and at lunch matter as much as the sessions. Captio AI works in any setting — informal, noisy, unstructured — the same way it works in the main hall.
Why Slovenian is hard to understand
Pitch accent
- The tonal distinction built into the standard
- Standard Slovenian has a tonemic variety — used in formal broadcasting and centred on the Ljubljana region — where stressed syllables carry high or low pitch that can separate two words. This tonal contrast is pure pitch and produces no lip or jaw movement, so a deaf attendee sees identical mouths for words the tone keeps apart in a keynote.
Vowel reduction and the schwa
- Unstressed vowels flatten into a neutral sound
- Slovenian reduces unstressed vowels heavily, and the neutral schwa appears where a written vowel suggests something fuller. Words look different from their spelling, so from a distant stage the reduced vowels give a deaf attendee little to segment a long technical term by.
Dense dialect landscape
- Seven dialect groups in a very small country
- Slovenia packs roughly seven major dialect groups into a country of two million people — one of the densest dialect landscapes in Europe. A conference draws speakers from across the country, so a deaf attendee calibrated to Ljubljana Slovenian meets markedly different vowel systems from one presenter to the next.
The dual number
- A whole grammatical category on word endings
- Slovenian keeps the dual — a distinct set of forms for exactly two of something — marked through endings on nouns and verbs. These endings, found in almost no other European language, sit at the ends of words where fast speech clips them and lip-reading is least reliable.
Slovenian–English code-switching
- Technical English inside Slovenian sentences
- Slovenian technology and academic speech, especially in Ljubljana, drops English terms into Slovenian sentences constantly. A deaf attendee lip-reading Slovenian meets English phonology on the key vocabulary, then returns to Slovenian, with no visual signal of the switch.

Around one in five people across Europe lives with some hearing loss, and in Slovenia the visible core of the deaf community is small and precisely known: roughly 1,500 people use Slovenian Sign Language, while some 75,000 Slovenians wear a hearing aid and around 450 use a cochlear implant, in a country of just two million. Behind those figures sits a much larger group with milder or age-related loss reaching professional life under-supported.
Slovenia is a world leader in the legal status of sign language — it enshrined Slovenian Sign Language in its Constitution in 2021 — yet a persistent shortage of interpreters and the absence of real-time captioning at events mean that recognition has not reached the conference hall. Ljubljana and Maribor host academic congresses and technology summits at venues like the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, run on spoken Slovenian over PA systems with English woven in, where captioning of keynotes, panels, and Q&A is rarely provided.
Captio AI closes that gap. Point the phone toward the PA and read every Slovenian keynote and panel answer from any seat, record a dense session for the full transcript, and follow the conversations over a coffee break — so a deaf professional in Ljubljana or Maribor gets the same value from the same conference as everyone in the hall.

Gone the moment it ends
Captio AI processes your audio in real time and discards it immediately. Nothing is recorded. Nothing is kept.
Not a product
Your conversations are not something Captio AI sells, shares, or monetizes — to anyone, for any reason.
Not used to train anything
What you say in a doctor's appointment or a job interview never ends up in a training dataset. Not ours. Not anyone else's.

"The pitch accent and the heavy vowel reduction give me nothing on the lips, and the keynote was fast. Captio AI captioned it accurately and I recorded the session. I followed a full congress talk for the first time."
"Slovenia has so many dialects for such a small country, and the panel had several. Captio AI captioned every speaker and the audience questions. As a panellist I answered what was actually asked instead of guessing."
"Networking over coffee is where the useful conversations happen, and it used to be the part I stepped back from. Captio AI captioned the informal chats at the reception so I could take part. That is where I met my first investor."
