Use Cases

Every situation covered

Designed for the real moments that matter — not just quiet controlled environments.

🎤Keynotes and main stage talks

From a far seat in a keynote hall at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, the speaker is distant and the hall is loud. Point Captio AI toward the nearest PA speaker and read every word of the Danish keynote from any seat.

🔬Academic and research conferences

At an academic conference — a research congress at a Copenhagen university or a scientific meeting in Aarhus — presenters speak fast and mix in terminology. Captio AI captions in real time and transcribes for later review.

💼Industry and professional events

Industry events, technology summits, and product launches in Copenhagen carry content that affects your work. Captio AI captions every speaker so you follow the panel and miss nothing.

📋Workshops and breakout sessions

In a workshop or breakout, several voices contribute in Danish from around the table. Place Captio AI on the table and follow every contribution, including from the back of the room.

🤝Networking and informal sessions

The most useful conversations often happen over coffee breaks and at the conference dinner. Captio AI works in these noisy, informal settings the same way it does in the main hall.

🌍International and multilingual events

At an international conference in Denmark, sessions switch between Danish and English. Live Translator captions foreign-language talks in real time so you follow the full programme.

Why Captio AI

Built for the room where you cannot ask anyone to repeat

Live captions from any seat

Point the phone toward the nearest PA output or speaker. Captio AI captions whoever is presenting in real time — from the front row or the back of a large conference hall.

Works without venue infrastructure

No hearing loop, no captioning service, no advance booking required. Captio AI works independently via microphone — whether or not the venue has provided any accessibility infrastructure.

Covers what official captioning does not

Official captioning, where it exists, typically covers the main stage only. Q&A sessions, workshops, breakouts, and networking are usually left uncaptioned. Captio AI covers all of it.

Record and review after

Record any session and upload it to Audio Transcription for a full written record. Use AI Summary to extract key takeaways — useful for dense technical content you want to process at your own pace.

60+ languages

For international conferences, foreign-language keynotes, or multilingual panels. Live Translator captions and translates in real time across 60+ languages with no manual switching between speakers.

Works for networking too

The conversations in hallways and at lunch matter as much as the sessions. Captio AI works in any setting — informal, noisy, unstructured — the same way it works in the main hall.

Danish

Why Danish is hard to understand

Stød

  • A catch in the voice that separates words
  • Danish has stød — a glottal creak or catch on certain stressed syllables that distinguishes minimal pairs, like 'hun' (she) from 'hund' (dog). It is produced in the throat with no lip movement, so from a distant stage a deaf attendee has no way to see the feature that changes the word in a keynote.

Huge vowel inventory

  • One of the world's largest sets of vowels
  • Danish has an unusually large vowel system — around twenty or more distinct vowel sounds, including the rounded æ, ø, and å. Many sit very close together on the lips, so a deaf attendee cannot tell apart the vowel that separates two technical terms at podium pace.

Soft d and lenition

  • Consonants that dissolve into vowel-like sounds
  • Danish weakens many consonants — the famous 'soft d' and the reduction of d, g, and b into fricatives or approximants. Word endings dissolve into vowel-like sounds, so a deaf attendee loses exactly the consonants that would mark the end of a word in a fast talk.

Heavy reduction

  • Speech and spelling that behave like two languages
  • Spoken Danish reduces and swallows sounds so heavily that what is written and what is said diverge sharply, even for other Scandinavians. In a fast keynote this reduction leaves a deaf attendee with a compressed stream and little visual footing to reconstruct a term.

Danish–English code-switching

  • Technical English inside Danish sentences
  • Danish professionals, among the most fluent English speakers in the world, drop English terms into Danish sentences constantly, especially in technology. A deaf attendee lip-reading Danish meets English phonology on the key vocabulary, then returns to Danish, with no visual signal of the switch.

The Challenge

Hearing loss and professional access in Denmark

Hearing loss is common in Denmark and rises sharply with age — among people over 74, around a third have hearing loss. Against a European backdrop in which roughly one in five people has some hearing loss, a large professional population lives and works with hearing difficulty, and studies of Danish adults document uneven hearing-aid use relative to need. Denmark is a world leader in hearing technology, yet the everyday communication gap at events persists.

Copenhagen and Aarhus host a dense calendar of congresses and events — the academic conferences of their universities, the technology and design summits at venues like the Bella Center, Scandinavia's largest. These run on spoken Danish delivered over PA systems, with English heavily woven into technical sessions. Real-time Danish captioning of keynotes, panels, and Q&A is rarely provided, and where captioning exists it covers the main stage, not the breakouts and networking where professional value is built.

Captio AI closes that gap. Point the phone toward the PA and read every Danish keynote and panel answer from any seat, record a dense session for the full transcript, and follow the conversations over a coffee break — so a deaf professional in Copenhagen or Aarhus gets the same value from the same conference as everyone in the hall.
