Most Dutch conversations happen fast, at normal pace, without warning. Captio AI captions every word as it's spoken, so you can follow without asking anyone to repeat themselves.
🤟Communicating with Deaf & HoHHearing people often don't know how to adapt when talking with deaf or hard of hearing Dutch speakers. Captio AI turns their speech into real-time captions, so the conversation can happen naturally on both sides.
💼MeetingsIn Dutch meetings, decisions happen fast and people talk over each other. Captio AI captions every speaker as they talk, so you never miss a decision or a question directed at you.
🎓LecturesDutch lecturers speak quickly, cover complex material, and rarely repeat themselves. Captio AI gives you a live transcript of everything said, so you can follow the content instead of straining to hear it.
🏥Doctor AppointmentsDoctors speak quickly in Dutch and use clinical language that's easy to mishear. Captio AI shows you everything they say in real time, so you can follow your diagnosis and ask the right questions.
🤝Job InterviewsMissing a question in a Dutch interview means answering wrong or asking for a repeat. Captio AI shows you every word the interviewer says, so you can focus entirely on your answer.
📱Phone & Video CallsDutch phone and video calls are harder to follow than in-person conversations. No lip reading, often poor audio quality. Captio AI captions whoever is speaking in real time, so you do not need to ask for repeats.
👥Group SettingsIn Dutch group conversations, multiple people talk at once and the thread moves fast. Captio AI keeps up with whoever is speaking, so you can follow without losing where the conversation is going.
🍽️Restaurants & CafesBackground noise in Dutch-speaking restaurants and cafes makes speech hard to follow. Captio AI focuses on whoever is speaking to you, so you can have a real conversation through the noise.
✈️TravelingIn Dutch-speaking cities, airports, and hotels there is no margin for mishearing. Captio AI captions speech in real time, so you can navigate confidently wherever you go.
🎤Conferences & EventsAt Dutch conferences, speakers are far away, acoustics are unpredictable, and you cannot ask for a repeat. Captio AI gives you a live transcript of every speaker, so you can follow the full event from any seat.
📺TV & MediaBuilt-in subtitles on Dutch TV, films, and videos are often wrong, delayed, or missing. Captio AI captions whatever is playing in real time, so you are not dependent on what the content provides.

Supports Standard Dutch, Flemish Belgian Dutch, and regional varieties.
Hollands dialect
The Hollandic variety spoken in the Randstad (Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam) — the most widely spoken Dutch dialect and the primary basis for Standard Dutch (Standaardnederlands). Captio AI handles Hollands dialect with full accuracy.
Brabants dialect
Spoken in North Brabant (Netherlands) and Antwerp (Belgium) — the most widely spoken Dutch dialect after Hollandic, with around 5 million speakers. Has a softer, more melodic quality than Hollands and is considered very accessible to most Dutch speakers. Captio AI handles Brabants dialect accurately.
West-Vlaams dialect
West Flemish — spoken in West Flanders (Belgium), the most conservative Dutch dialect and the one that has diverged most from Standard Dutch. Preserves features of Middle Dutch not found elsewhere. Often difficult for Dutch speakers from the Netherlands to understand. Captio AI handles educated West Flemish speech accurately.
Limburgs dialect
Spoken in Limburg (both Dutch and Belgian) — often classified as a separate language due to its tonal system, where pitch distinguishes word meaning. Has distinct phonology and vocabulary from Standard Dutch. Captio AI handles educated Limburgish speech accurately; very heavy dialect features may reduce accuracy.
Nedersaksisch dialect
Dutch Low Saxon — spoken across the northeastern Netherlands (Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland). Closely related to Low German and distinct from the Low Franconian varieties of Standard Dutch. Captio AI handles educated Nedersaksisch speech accurately.

Gone the moment it ends
Captio AI processes your Dutch audio in real time and discards it immediately. Nothing is recorded. Nothing is kept.
Not a product
Your conversations are not something Captio AI sells, shares, or monetizes — to anyone, for any reason.
Not used to train anything
What you say in a Dutch doctor's appointment or job interview never ends up in a training dataset. Not ours. Not anyone else's.
Hearing accessibility for Dutch speakers
The Netherlands and Flanders (Dutch-speaking Belgium) both speak Dutch, but their deaf communities use different sign languages. Nederlandse Gebarentaal (NGT) became an official language of the Netherlands on March 16, 2021, alongside Dutch and Frisian. Flanders uses Vlaamse Gebarentaal (VGT). Despite the shared spoken language, NGT and VGT are not mutually intelligible.
Both NGT and VGT descend from Old French Sign Language through 18th-century educational contact, but have diverged significantly over 200 years. The Netherlands had 640 registered sign language interpreters as of 2020, making it relatively well-served for interpreter access compared to many European countries.
For hard of hearing Dutch speakers, healthcare in the Netherlands is relatively organized but interpreter access in hospitals still requires advance arrangement. Unplanned appointments, urgent situations, or short-notice needs are where Captio AI is most used — providing a way to follow spoken Dutch in real time when formal support wasn't arranged in advance.
