What actually sets them apart
Will Augio caption my English-speaking colleagues?
Not according to Augio's own pages: it is built for Danish from the ground up, with dialects, numbers and everyday speech, and mentions no other language and no translation. Captio AI captions and translates 60+ languages, Danish among them, including speech that switches language mid-sentence.

Can Augio caption a Teams meeting on my work PC?
Yes. Augio has a Windows app that shows Danish captions in a window next to Teams or Zoom, on the same account as your phone. Captio AI has no Windows app and doesn't caption video calls; it captions the people in the room on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Can Augio tell who is talking at a table of five?
Not yet. Augio's Google Play listing says it can't tell speakers apart, and its website names five people talking over each other as a weak spot. Captio AI splits the text by speaker on a single phone. Save your mother's voice once and Recognize Voices (iPhone) writes "Mor" in front of her lines instead of a number. And if the phone is an iPhone 16 or later, laid flat among the plates, Speaker Direction raises a wave at the edge of the captions nearest the person speaking.

Can I keep using Augio for free after the trial?
No. When the 14 days end, Augio charges DKK 149 a month or DKK 1,500 a year on the Danish App Store (November 2026), or DKK 99 and DKK 999 for anyone who subscribes before 1 January 2027. Captio AI has no trial that runs out: its free tier simply gives 100 free credits a day. Lifting that limit with Captio AI Plus costs US$79.99 a year or US$14.99 a month in the US App Store (October 2026), and prices vary by country.

Can my kommune or jobcenter pay for Augio?
Augio sells municipalities, job centres and other public bodies a 12-month licence for a named person, at DKK 1,200 excl. VAT, and offers the citizen a trial before the grant; its pages don't say who qualifies. Captio AI isn't part of a public scheme, but any organization can buy yearly Captio AI Plus licences per person, paid by invoice.

Does Augio need an internet connection?
Yes. Augio's speech recognition runs on servers, and it lists use without internet among the things it can't do yet. Captio AI is in the same position for live captions, with one difference: it carries on recording through a dropped connection and transcribes the recording when the signal returns.

It depends on where you are
A Teams meeting on your work PC
Augio's Windows app keeps Danish captions beside Teams or Zoom. Captio AI doesn't caption video calls.
A julefrokost where everyone talks at once
Augio says it works well with two or three people and can't yet say who is talking. Captio AI tags each colleague's lines, swaps in names for voices you saved on iPhone, and on an iPhone 16 or later points a wave towards the person speaking.
Captions for this situationA partner or in-laws who speak English
Captio AI's Live Translator sets the translation beside the original, and in two-way mode you read your in-laws in Danish while they read you in English. Augio's pages describe Danish only.
Captions for this situationYour kommune or jobcenter is paying
Augio sells public bodies a 12-month licence for a named person and lets the citizen try it before the grant. Captio AI is not part of a public scheme.
The doorbell rings in the middle of a conversation
Captio AI marks the ring in the captions and vibrates, on iPhone and iPad, as long as it is recording. Augio's pages don't mention sounds.
Captions for this situationCaptions in front of your eyes on smart glasses
Augio can show its captions on compatible smart glasses (the models aren't named), so you keep looking at the person talking. Captio AI runs on phones and iPad.

Frequently asked questions
Who makes Augio, and is it Danish?
Yes, it is Danish. Augio ApS in Glamsbjerg makes it for Danish conversations and people with hearing loss, and sells it on the Danish App Store with prices in kroner. Captio AI captions Danish as one of 60+ languages and has its own Danish page at captioai.app/danish.
Can Augio replace a skrivetolk (writing interpreter)?
No, and Augio says so itself: it is a supplement, not a replacement for a hearing aid, a cochlear implant or a writing interpreter. In Denmark you can apply for writing or sign-language interpretation, for example at work, at the doctor's or for a family celebration (see borger.dk). Captio AI is automatic too and doesn't replace an interpreter; it is one more tool next to them.
How much does Augio cost in Denmark?
The regular price is DKK 149 a month or DKK 1,500 a year with VAT (Danish App Store, November 2026). Subscribe before 1 January 2027 and DKK 99 or DKK 999 stays your price for as long as the subscription runs; on augio.dk you can pay by card or MobilePay. In the US App Store, Captio AI Plus was US$14.99 monthly and US$79.99 yearly in October 2026, while its free tier of 100 free credits a day costs nothing.
Does Augio run on Android, iPhone and iPad?
On Android and iPhone (iOS 16.4 or later), plus Windows computers; the App Store lists it for iPhone only, not iPad. Captio AI runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, but has no Windows app.
Does Augio understand jysk and other Danish dialects?
Augio says it is made for Danish with dialects, numbers and everyday language, without naming the dialects. Captio AI's Danish page lists Rigsdansk, Sjællandsk, Fynsk, Jysk and Bornholmsk, and says very heavy Bornholmsk features may reduce accuracy.
Where does Augio keep my conversations?
Encrypted on your own device only. The audio sent for speech recognition isn't stored, and the terms say transcripts are kept only if you turn that on. Captio AI saves recordings in a searchable library synced to your account; the audio it processes live isn't kept on its servers, and nothing you record is used to train AI models.
Can Augio caption a YouTube video or a DR programme on my PC?
On a Windows PC, yes: Augio's App Store listing names online meetings and video as what the computer app is for. On the phone it isn't described. Captio AI doesn't caption sound playing on a device; instead it transcribes audio and video files you upload, with speaker labels.
Do I need an account to use Augio?
Yes. You sign in with your email and a one-time code, with no password, and the same account works on all your devices. With Captio AI an account is optional: sign in with Apple or Google to sync, or skip it and use the app on one phone.
